  • Pure physical barrier, zero chemicals, fibreglass mesh across the open window
  • Two formats: tool-free magnetic clip-on, or made-to-measure fitted aluminium frame
  • Built to your window's dimensions; long-life aluminium and fibreglass with no insecticide to deplete
At a glance

A fibreglass insect screen for the window itself, in two formats. The Apertura Magnetica is a clip-on mesh panel held in a flexible magnetic surround, no drilling, self-closing, lifts off for winter. The Apertura Telaio is the made-to-measure answer: sag-free mesh on a slim aluminium frame, cut to your opening, as a retractable roller, a hinged, or a fixed panel. Both are completely untreated, zero chemicals, a pure physical barrier across the air entering the room. Made to your window's dimensions; priced on request.

The bed net covers the hours of sleep; the head net covers the body outdoors; the patio gazebo covers the whole terrace. The Apertura covers the place the mosquitoes actually get in: the open window. Through a European summer the window has to stay open for air, and that is precisely the gap a mosquito uses at dusk. The Apertura closes the opening, not the window, with a fine fibreglass mesh that lets the air through and keeps the insect on the far side. It comes two ways, the clip-on Apertura Magnetica for renters and quick seasonal fitting, and the made-to-measure Apertura Telaio on a fitted aluminium frame for a permanent, near-invisible answer, so every kind of window can stay open through the night.

What it is, exactly

The Apertura Magnetica is a fine fibreglass mesh panel held in a slim, flexible magnetic surround. A self-adhesive ferromagnetic strip mounts to the window frame once, with no drilling and no screws; the mesh panel then meets it magnet-to-steel around every edge, so there is no gap for an insect to find and the panel self-closes if you push through it. It lifts off in one motion, stores flat over winter, and re-mounts the next season, which makes it the renter-safe, tool-free option.

The Apertura Telaio is the fitted answer: sag-free fibreglass mesh tensioned on a slim, rigid aluminium frame, cut to the exact dimensions of your opening and colour-matched so it reads as part of the window. It comes as a retractable roller that rolls away out of sight by day, a hinged panel, or a fixed panel, whichever suits the window and the room.

Both formats use the same fibreglass insect-screen mesh, the UV-stable, sag-free weave that is correct for windows, in white, anthracite, or brown to match standard EU frames. Because every screen is built to your measurements, the Apertura is priced on request rather than sold off the shelf.

Why this one carries zero chemicals

Every Mosticare bed and travel sleep net is factory-impregnated with permethrin, bound into the fibre, because it sits at the very edge of where you sleep. The Apertura is deliberately different. It frames the open window, the route by which the outside air, and everyone in the room, breathes all evening, so it carries no treatment at all.

The barrier is purely geometric: a mesh fine enough that the mosquito cannot pass, with nothing on it to breathe, touch, or wear off. No permethrin, no biocidal impregnation, no spray to reapply. It is a physical screen across the opening and nothing more, which is exactly what a window screen should be.

Which format is for you

Pick the Magnetica when you rent, when you want it up in minutes with no tools, or when you only need the screen for the mosquito season and want it gone the rest of the year. It clips to casement, tilt-and-turn, and sash windows, self-closes behind you, and comes away cleanly when you move out.

Pick the Telaio when you own the home and want the permanent, near-invisible answer: a fitted aluminium frame that disappears into the window line. Choose the retractable roller where you want the mesh out of sight by day, the hinged panel where the window doubles as an exit, or the fixed panel for windows that simply stay screened. Either way, the Apertura screens the window; for screened doorways, see the Mosticare Porta.

Made to measure, fitted to last

Neither format is a shelf size. You give us the window's width and height, we build the screen to it, and you tell us your frame colour. The Telaio in particular is cut and assembled to order, then either fitted or shipped flat for self-installation with its hardware and guide.

Because the frame is aluminium and the mesh is fibreglass, there is nothing in an Apertura to deplete: no insecticide that wears off, no three-year impregnation clock. Kept clean and handled with normal care, it screens the window season after season, a long-life barrier rather than a consumable.

  • Magnetica setup: wipe the frame, press the self-adhesive ferromagnetic strip around the opening, and offer the magnetic panel up, it snaps shut along every edge.
  • Telaio fitting: measure width × height, choose roller, hinged, or fixed, and either have it fitted or install the made-to-order frame yourself with the supplied hardware.
  • Let the magnetic panel self-close fully; a panel held ajar leaves the only gap a mosquito needs.
  • Hand-wash the mesh and let it air-dry; the Magnetica panel lifts off in one motion and stores flat over winter.
  • Match the frame colour, white, anthracite, or brown, to your window so the screen reads as part of it.
  • No insecticide to deplete: a durable aluminium-and-fibreglass barrier that lasts season after season with no treatment to reapply.
Certifications and testing

Every claim on this page is traceable to a standard or an independent test.

  • No chemical treatment, the Apertura is a pure physical barrier. It carries no biocide and is not a treated article, so no biocidal-product authorization applies, by design, because it screens the open window the room breathes through.
  • Fibreglass insect-screen mesh, the UV-stable, sag-free weave correct for windows, left completely untreated in both the Magnetica and the Telaio.
  • Designed in Europe for the climate-shifted European summer and the advancing Asian tiger mosquito; the Telaio is designed and manufactured in Europe.
  • Made to measure, every screen is built to the customer's exact window dimensions rather than sold as a shelf size.
Frequently asked questions

Before you decide.

Is it treated with insecticide?
No, and that is deliberate. The Apertura is completely untreated, a pure physical barrier with zero chemicals. Because it frames the open window the room breathes through all evening, there is nothing on the mesh to breathe, touch, or wear off, no permethrin, no biocide. Our bed and travel sleep nets, which sit at the edge of sleep, are permethrin-treated; the window and door screens are not.
Do I need to drill the window for the Magnetica?
No. The Apertura Magnetica needs no drilling, no screws, and no tools. A self-adhesive ferromagnetic strip mounts to the window surround once, and the magnetic mesh panel snaps to it around every edge. It lifts off cleanly, which makes it renter-safe and easy to take with you.
What is the difference between the Magnetica and the Telaio?
The Magnetica is a clip-on magnetic mesh panel: tool-free, self-closing, removable, ideal for renters and seasonal use. The Telaio is a made-to-measure fitted screen on a slim aluminium frame, available as a retractable roller, a hinged, or a fixed panel, the permanent, near-invisible answer for a home you own.
Will it fit my window?
Yes, because both formats are built to your measurements rather than sold as shelf sizes. You give us the window's width and height; the Magnetica covers standard EU windows up to roughly 140 × 160 cm and is also made to bespoke openings, and the Telaio is cut to the exact dimensions of any window.
How long does an Apertura last?
It is built to last seasons, not to be replaced on a clock. The frame is aluminium and the mesh is UV-stable fibreglass, and because there is no insecticide to deplete, there is no three-year treatment lifecycle. Kept clean and handled with normal care, it goes on screening the window year after year.
How is it priced, can I buy it straight away?
Every Apertura is made to your window's dimensions, so it is priced on request rather than bought off the shelf. Send us your measurements and chosen format and we return a quotation; the prices shown are provisional anchors while final pricing and the live configurator are being set up.

Mosticare exists to protect people from the world's deadliest animal without poisoning the spaces they live in. The Apertura does it at the window itself, so the European summer night can stay open to the air and closed to the mosquito.
